Taken with my new Canon Rebel SL1.
This is not my first Canon Rebel, but I was really surprised at just how small the newest EOS Rebel SL1 actually is, even though every description starts off with the fact that this is the smallest and lightest DSLR ever.
The history of the digital camera is very interesting. I got into digital photography in 2001, can I was the proud owner of the very first digital Rebel camera.
I had to have this little puppy, even though I already own two other very capable digital Rebels (I have the T3i and the T4i). I guess my wife's mother was right when she stated, "If you don't have it, you need it." Now, she was talking about kitchen gadgets and appliances, but I think the statement fits with cameras, too.
Canon has been faithfully updating its camera models about every two years. However, this one is a bit early. They added the T5i AND the SL1 at the same time. I'm thinking the SL1 (aka 100D) is a replacement for the Rebel T3, which is a truly beginner camera.
So I passed up the T5i in favor of new technology. It does not appear that the T5i is much better than what I already have, but the "little Rebel," now that's new and exciting.
I really like this camera. It takes excellent photos. They have the same quality as what my other Canon cameras produce, simply because the image sensor and processor are the same, in spite of the smaller body. The engineers at Canon have really done something special, making the body smaller but still including all the elements of a true DSLR camera.
